We are excited to announce that applications are now open for the NERC TREES DLA 2026 PhD cohort. If you’re interested in conducting high-impact research in environmental science, this is your chance to apply via one of two routes

Want to pursue an original idea? Collaborate with a TREES supervisor from the outset and propose your own PhD project aligned with TREES themes.
Timeline & Deadline

- Deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 17th December 2025
- Early submission is strongly encouraged
Tips for Applicants
- Review existing advertised projects first to see where your interests match.
- Early contact with potential supervisors can help you fine-tune your proposal (especially for Route 2).
- Make sure you review the guidance document to ensure your application strongly aligns to the shortlisting criteria
- Pay attention to required documents (CV, transcripts, references).
- Submit before the deadline — late submissions will not be accepted.
